Junior Umpire Program

PQGSA runs a Junior Umpire program for children between the ages of 12-18 years old.  PQGSA Junior Umpires are typically made up of 12U+ division players that have advanced skills in their softball and baseball experiences.

PQGSA Junior Umpires are compensated for each game they call.

  • Fall season games are on Sundays only.
  • Fall season begins in early September and ends in mid-November.
  • Spring season begins in late February and ends in early May
  • Spring season games are on Saturdays only.
  • Interested Junior Umpires should contact the board.
  • Training Sessions will occur prior to the start of the season (dates TBD).
  • Junior umpires will generally only umpire 8U games.
  • New and returning Junior Umpires are required to attend training sessions.

  • USA Softball Umpire Rules Clinics have been VIRTUAL via Zoom recently.
  • Please contact the board for more information on the next virtual course
  • Online YOUTH UMPIRE registration with USA Softball is required and must be completed by the umpire/guardian; this is not handled by PQGSA.
  • PQGSA will send an email to you with your Junior Umpire's USA Softball ID#. DO NOT register with USA Softball until you receive this email.
  • Go to and FOLLOW THE PDF INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BELOW when registering your Junior Umpire with USA Softball.
  • The registration fee is $50 and will be reimbursed by PQGSA as long as a minimum of three games are umpired during the regular spring season.
